Distance to the Moon in the Quran

This paper presents a hypothesis regarding the correlation of the number of letters and words between the two Moon words in chapter “the Moon” and the minimum and maximum distance between Moon and Earth.

1. Why divide by 3? I understand the argument that it is the number of letters in the word Qamar. However, it is also the number of letters in Shams.
2. Why letters in one case and words in the other?.
